Google Analytics

I've not kept up with this blog like I intended.  I've been thinking about what to include and decided to start with one of the most important website tools for marketing your site, Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is a free tool that tracks what content is popular, where visitors come from, how long visitors stay, tracking sales and conversion rates, how well advertiements are working, and much much more. Google Analytics Feature Info.  If you have a website built by Fritschle Communications it's likely already setup with Google Analytics, whether you use it or not. If you don't have your login info or have trouble accessing it, contact me and I'll help you get access to your analytics.

Earlier this year the dashboard changed. When you log in, the primary dashboard shows some of the standard analytics data and has a link to real time data on the left. I unforatunatly don't have enough visitors to worry about real time usage.  In the top navigation bar you'll see a link to "Standard Reporting" which will change the left navigation and give you access to audience, advertising, traffic sources, content and conversions.

Mobile web browsing is on the rise with the prevelance of iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.  Under "Standard Reporting", "Audience", then "Mobile" you can view the number of visitors using mobile devices and see what devices they are using.  This information also might help you decide if a mobile version of your site is necessary.  If you'd like to talk about the possiblity of adding a mobile version of the site, contact me.

I receive emails from DuctTapeMarketing.com which is ran by John Jantsch.  He recently posted an article on his blog called 5 Google Analytics Reports and Tips You Should Embrace Now.  Not all of us can use all 5 of these reports, like the real time stats I mentioned above, but its worth a quick read.  If you want to impliment any of these tools John talks about and have trouble or need help, let me know.
